October Newsletter

Summer may be over, but it sure doesn’t feel that way here at the Shed.  Southern California has been experiencing yet another heat wave, and coastal temperatures were inching towards triple digits for a few days there.  The water is as warm as ever, and with a killer south swell on it’s way out we’ve had to remind ourselves that it’s October! Summer was good to us, we even surpassed 5,000 ‘likes’ on Facebook!! (More to come on that soon!)

Fall is a welcomed season though, since it means that we’re battling less crowds, and looking forward to winter swells.

Speaking of winter… check out Bird’s thoughts on prepping for colder temperatures here

We had a great time with One Palm Media towards the end of September, screening their killer Cloudbreak documentary- THUNDERCLOUD to a packed house.  To our friends on the East Coast- the Thundercloud crew is continuing their USA tour through the rest of October.  Check their website for dates and details.

**On a serious note- longtime Shed friend and all around legend, Brandon Lillard, was in a serious BASE jumping accident in September.  Somewhere in the fine print of his insurance paperwork, there was a clause stating parachute activity would not be covered.  The good news is that Brandon is alive, and recovering well.  Also, in the miracles department, the scans performed at the ER in Utah discovered a potentially fatal (but treatable) heart condition that would have killed Brandon had it not been diagnosed.  The bad news is that the medical bills surrounding his accident will no doubt be astronomical, and he should be focused on healing, not how he’s going to pay those bills.  Brandon would never ask for himself, so it’s up to his friends and the people who love and admire him to help him through this.  If you have a minute, please check out the Go Fund Me that has been set up to help. **
